Vitamin D and parathyroid hormone in the umbilical cord blood – Correlation with light and dark maternal skin color

Abstract — Vitamin D deficiency is correlated with negative health problems for mother and child during pregnancy. In addition, dark skin color has been shown to lower vitamin D levels. In maternal and postpartum umbilical cord blood, we recruited 202 mother and child pairs at the University Hospital Zurich and measured 25D and PTH levels. The association of 25D in the maternal with umbilical cord blood was high, with higher amounts of 25 vitamin D in the umbilical cord and blood compared to those in maternal blood. There were no associations between maternal and umbilical cord PTH levels, as shown by the test results, and median PTH levels in the umbilical cord were much lower than those in maternal blood. The message of vitamin D supplementation in newborns in their first three years of life should be especially emphasised to dark u2010skinned mothers.

Effects of dietary vitamin C on growth, antioxidant enzyme activity and immune‐related gene expression of Pampus argenteus

Vitamin C plays a vital role in fish growth and immunity, as a micronutrient, but the effects of vitamin C on Pampus argenteus were still unclear. Here, we introduced vitamin C with different amounts to the basic diet, and the optimum concentration of vitamin C was found as 1050 mg/kg through the growth indicators, antioxidant enzyme production, and the expression of four immune-related genes. These results revealed that vitamin C supplementation improved fish growth, reduced stress reaction exacerbated by formaldehyde therapy, and strengthened P. argenteus's immunity.

Association of the vitamin D and parathyroid hormone status with the ageing‐related decline of bone microarchitecture in older men – the prospective STRAMBO study

With the prospectively assessed decline in bone microarchitecture and estimated bone strength in older men, we investigated the relationship between baseline PTH and 25-u2013hydroxycholerol levels. High resolution peripheral quantitative computed tomography at baseline and in 826 men aged 60-2011-87 were determined by distal radius and tibia bone microarchitecture, before and 8 years in 826 men aged 60 to 80 years old. Men with 25OHD=226410ng/mL had a faster decrease in reaction force and failure load than those with 25OHD > 30ng/mL. At the lower quartile, men with PTH averages above the median had the largest decrease in Tt. BMD, Ct. Ar, Ct. Ar, Ct. BMD, Ct. Thd, reaction force, and failure load, with a more rapid decline in Tt. This review was conducted to determine the effect of yoghurt's vitamin C soluble properties, which was lacking any addition, but L'u2010ascorbic acid and acerola were added to the goat's and cow's milk without any addition, as well as vitamin C. Based on the sensory results, the natural cow's yoghurt has risen in the overall rating among yoghurts.

The rate constant of the aryloxyl scavenging reaction by u03b1:uu2010tocopherol has increased monotonously by adding water to the ethanol solution, showing that the oxidation potential of u03b1u2010tocopherol decreases as water is added. Although the rate constant of the 1O2 quenching reaction grew with increasing water content from 0% to 10% v/v, it reached a peak of 10% v/v and decreased in the range 10%-20% v/v. The decrease of 1O2 quenching in the 10%-200% vs/v range may be due to complexes that occur between 1O2 and the water molecules.

The Collagen X biomarker has been shown to be a linear growth indicator. Vitamin D Intervention in Infants study analyzed a cohort of 276 term-u2010born children. For the first two years of life, infants were given 10 bcg/d or 30 bcg/d vitamin D3 supplementation.
