Cu(ii)–vitamin C-complex catalyzed photo-induced homocoupling reaction of aryl boronic acid in base-free and visible light conditions

Under heterogeneous atmospheric and visible light conditions, TiO2–ascorbic acid –Cu, nanohybrid is active in the selective aerobic oxidation of aryl boronic acids. The photocatalytic activity of Cu–vitamin C complex immobilized on titanium dioxide nanoparticles was exploited in this work's photo-assisted homocoupling reaction of aryl boronic acids under heterogeneous conditions. The visible-light-driven photocatalytic reaction of the visible-light-driven photocatalytic reaction at 410 nm revealed the maximum apparent quantum yield determined by action spectra.

Protective effects and mechanisms of high-dose vitamin C on sepsis-associated cognitive impairment in rats

Sepsis survivors have long-term cognitive problems. The present research was designed to investigate the effects of early administration of high-dose vitamin C on cognitive function in septic rats and explore the potential neural protective mechanism. The Morris water maze test was administered ten days after surgery to determine the physical appearance and cognitive ability. The hippocampus's production of matrix metalloproteinase-9 and expressions of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 and heme oxygenase-1 was measured 24 hours after surgery. The escape latency of sepsis rats in the navigation test was significantly delayed compared to the sham group in the Morris water maze experiment, although the frequency to cross the platform and the time spent in the target quadrant were significantly reduced relative to the sham group in the Morris water maze experiment. The escape latency was significantly reduced by high-dose vitamin C, but the time spent in the target quadrant and the frequency to cross the platform were both up significantly. In the hippocampus, high-dose vitamin C reduced tumor necrosis factor--1, interleukin-6, MDA, and MMP-9 production, but not as much as SOD, the anti-inflammatory cytokine in the serum and hippocampus, as well as total and total Nrf2, and HO-1.
