Loss of coastal ecosystem services in Mexico: An approach to economic valuation in the face of sea level rise

In the context of climate change, the economic evaluation of coastal ecosystem services is a significant step toward the development of effective public policies that protect the services that nature provides to society. We found the financial value that represents the erosion of coastal ecosystem services as a result of the sea level rise in Mexico using the value transfer method. The annual economic loss attributed to the disappearance of coastal ecosystem services in Mexico is estimated at $6,476,402,405 USD, where wetlands account for the most affected ecosystem by area. Baja California Sur, Sinaloa, and Campeche are the states with the largest economic decline. Since its destruction and/or reconstruction incurs high economic costs and risks the health of the population, the security of society should have a top priority in the country's growth plans.

VALUATION OF MOUNT MERAPI NATIONAL PARK: A TRAVEL COST ANALYSIS

According to the results, the utility of recreation at volcano national park from August 1st to August 15th 2009 is much improved using the negative binomialdistribution method. It also finds that recreation at volcano national park is worth Rp222,000, and that the total recreation market surplus for the recreation national park is Rp 31. 2 billion.

Information source and content – Drivers for consumers’ valuation of fairly traded chocolate

We conducted an online poll of 2500 consumers representative of the German population to find out about the role of information content and location as catalysts to raise consumers' value of fair traded foods. To learn more about the role of information content and source as catalysts to raise consumer satisfaction with relatively processed foods, we conducted an online poll. We use the contingent valuation technique to determine the willingness-to-pay premium for chocolate under the Fairtrade label in comparison to similar conventional chocolate. Despite having no idea about the accreditation, we discovered that German consumers are prepared to pay a premium for a Fairtrade label. While a supporting statement by a university does not appear to encourage the appraisal of Fairtrade certified chocolate, we find that unsupportive statement from the same source can discourage the purchasing decision. Our results show that policymakers and communicators of scientific knowledge should bear the danger of generalized science communication aimed at establishing the public opinion and building awareness campaigns to raise purchasing frequency.

Motor response vigour and visual fixation patterns reflect subjective valuation during intertemporal choice.

However, there is growing evidence that option valuation could also be reflected in motor reaction vigour and eye movements, as implicit measures of subjective utility, among other aspects of subjective value. We set up a task where the participants selected a grip force transducer and visual fixation shifts between choices in order to determine motor response vigour and visual fixation correlates of option selection in intertemporal choice. We used hierarchical Bayesian parameter estimation to model the choices for hypobolic discounting, compared the two models' styles of the softmax and drift diffusion model, and determined the correlation between response vigour and the estimated model parameters as described in our preregistration. The behavioural results were best explained by a drift diffusion model that suggested a non-linear variation of the drift rate as a function of subjective value differences.

AGRICULTURAL MULTIFUNCTIONALITY FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN MALAYSIA: A CONTINGENT VALUATION METHOD APPROACH

To explore the possibility of innovating the agricultural industry for sustainable growth, it is important to conduct a research on the non-food benefits of agriculture. To help AMF, a contingent valuation with two payment solicitation methods was sent to Kuala Lumpur's respondents to determine the WTP an agricultural premium of agricultural products's purchase values to help AMF. The findings point to the direction of innovating the agricultural industry through AMF as one of the forerunners of sustainable growth for developing countries like Malaysia. Although only half of the respondents promised their WTP for AMF, it is found that households, which spend more on agricultural products such as vegetables, fruits, and similar items, have a higher odds ratio of AMF for AMF than others. And that payment card design has a higher chance of WTP for AMF than the open-ended CV method design.

Brand valuation: an innovative approach based on conversion ratios

The method used depends on evidence-based inputs, and, as such, it specifically addresses the limitations of the brand valuation techniques that have been developed so far. It can be used in situations in which brand owners achieve average to below average results not accepting the use of income-based approaches, but not explicitly allowing the deployment of income-based strategies. Within a case study, we tested the theory on a model company. Both researchers and practitioners will be aided in terms of the existing methodologies' calibration and refinement, as well as novel perspectives on the subject.
