Through a translation-collisional merging device, a two-chord ion Doppler spectroscopy system was developed to determine the ion temperature and flow velocity of field-reversed configuration plasmas in the FRC amplification. In addition, two vertically aligned optical paths shared the optical system up to the monochromator and then branch just before the detector, successfully lowering crosstalk to 1%. The measurements of the toroidal flow velocity and the spatial profile of the FRC plasma in the FAT-CM device were both confirmed.
