The biopsy procedure used in soft tissue sarcoma diagnosis is disputed. We investigated the diagnostic accuracy of percutaneous core needle biopsy and compared it to open incisional biopsy. In 96% of incisional and 97. 6% of core needle biopsies, the correct entity was found in 96% of incisional and 97. 6% of core needle biopsies, according to the pair matched analysis. Incisional biopsies resulted in two wound infections and one hematoma, one of which died, while wound infection occurred in one patient after CNB. Moreover, surgeons must remain vigilant of the possibility of biopsy failure.
