Animal pollination increases stability of crop yield across spatial scales

Animal pollination's crop yield is well-known, as shown by the following. In comparison, animal pollination's effects on crop yield's spatial or temporal stability are vague. We use metau2010analysis to analyze variability results from 215 experimental comparisons between animalu2010pollinated and wind-u2010pollinated control plants in apple, oilseed rape, and faba bean, which we use in 215 experiments. When yield increases due to animal pollination, the increase in yield stability with animal pollination is the highest, suggesting that controlling crop pollination to increase yield also increases yield stability.
