Comprehensive genome-wide maps of regulatory elements that support cellular immune responses and autoimmune disorders have been produced by Epigenomic studies profiling immune cells, which may be crucial to deciphering the regulatory networks that underlie cellular immune responses and autoimmune disorders. Endogenous retroviruses have been found in these genomic maps as unexpected ally in human immune system regulation. Here, we explore how endogenous retroviruses have given rise to a variety of policy variables that influence host immune responses' epigenetic landscapes.
