Retinal Light Processing Using Carbon Nanotubes

AMD is the leading cause of irreversible vision loss in the United States, killing more than half of those over the age of 74 [ref 1 at start]. As the population age, Severe vision loss or blindness from several retinal disorders is on the rise. The Vision Chip is intended to treat AMD, and other retinal photoreceptor disorders by converting a failing retinal photoreceptor system with a series of compatible external photoreceptors and carbon nanotube "towers" that provide a pathway to transmit signals from the external photoreceptors to an active layer of retinal.
