Spatial modeling of geogenic indoor radon distribution in Chungcheongnam-do, South Korea using enhanced machine learning algorithms

Local municipalities are concerned about widespread health issues for housing occupants as a result of continued inhalation of indoor radon and its progenies;, housing developments in radon-prone areas are of particular concern to local governments. To implement cost-effective radon mitigation strategies successfully or to avoid the construction of unsafe buildings, areas with high risk of radon exposure must be identified. The GMDH model was combined with two metaheuristic optimization algorithms to optimally tune the hyper-parameters of GMDH and improve model radon distribution's prediction accuracy, as well as the bat and cuckoo optimization algorithms. The radon potential map developed in this study indicates the first stage of identifying areas where large percentages of residential buildings are likely to have elevated radon levels as a result of high concentrations of natural radioisotopes in rocks and derived soils under building foundations. The produced map aids local authorities in establishing urban plans more effectively in areas with lower radon concentrations.

RadoNorm aims to minimize risks related to radon and naturally occurring radioactive substances to promote effective radiation shielding based on improved scientific evidence and social concerns. It supports the European Member States and the EU Commission in enforcing the Basic Safety Standards for protection against ionizing radiation risks at the administrative, executive, and operational levels. The initiative supports EC efforts to raise radiation security in a coordinated and joint manner, as has been achieved by the establishment of radiation shield platforms, the promotion of programs, and partnership CONCERT-EJP.

The Influence of Adopting New Reference Breathing Parameters on ICRP66 Model on the Regional Deposition of the Inhaled Attached Radon-222 Daughters Within the Human Airways

The radiation dose from internal radiation exposure is impossible to quantify accurately, and therefore different lung models were created. A modified breathing rate is then applied to the ICRP66 model's assumptions to investigate the regional deposition of radioactive aerosols in this paper, and a comparison has been made using the results of the ICRP66 model deposition. According to the study, the percentage deposition fraction in extrathoracic areas in the ET1 zone increases from 6. 5 percent to 50. 3 percent, and in the ET2 region, increases from 6. 5 percent to 50. 3 percent. In the alveolar zone, the deposition of small size attached to a small amount of radon aerosols is found to be the highest, relative to other parts of the respiratory tract, and large size aerosols in this region are virtually negligible.

Genuine Forgery Signature Detection using Radon Transform and K-Nearest Neighbour

As a result, the need for authentication for a variety of security reasons is on the rise. The proposed method describes an off-line Genuine/ Forgery signature classification system that uses radon conversion and the K-Nearest Neighbour classifier. Every signature features are extracted by radon transformation, and they are linked to retrieve statistical data of his signature. In K-Nearest Neighbour classifier training, many forged and genuine signatures are selected. Test signature verification is achieved by aligning the test signature with each and every reference signature of the user. Approximately, the estimated system's success is 90 percent in the signature verification scheme.

Chronic Home Radon Exposure Is Associated with Higher Inflammatory Biomarker Concentrations in Children and Adolescents

However, the extent to which chronic home radon exposure can raise the risk of health issues earlier in life is uncertain. We investigated the degree to which persistent home radon exposure in 68 youths aged 6- to 14 years old who live in an area of the United States prone to high home radon levels. The results showed specificity in connections between chronic home radon exposure and various inflammatory biomarkers of inflammation, establishing a pathway that can pose a danger to future mental and physical health problems.

Imaging of vertical seismic profiling data using weighted generalized radon transform migration in dip-angle domain

During the migration imaging process of VSP results, it is easy to produce substantial u201csmileu201d migration artifacts near the sensors, which contaminates the imaging profile and influences subsequent geological interpretation. We explore in detail how these migration artifacts were created during VSP data migration in this paper. We extend the generalized Radon transform migration technique to the dip-angle domain and then create dip-angle domain common image collections.

Radon, a well-known human lung carcinogen, is naturally released as an odorless, colorless gas derived from soil and stones. Although the connection between radon and lung cancer is well established, the connection between radon and other cancers is not well established. In an area where existing research shows potential correlations with residential radon may exist, more research is required to determine the relationship between residential radon and non-lung cancers, particularly with respect to skin cancer, CNS cancer, and stomach cancer. However, the evidence reveals that lung cancer is the most common problem related to residential radon exposure, while non-lung cancers are secondary worries.
