Objective Under hypercholesterolaemia, it is necessary to determine the mechanism of sericin's action in cardiac mitochondria. Hypercholesterolaemia was caused in Wistar rats by feeding them 6% cholesterol-containing chow for 6 weeks. In sericin-treated hypercholesterolemic rats compared to the nontreatment group, there was a 32. 22 % rise in the percent striated area of cardiac muscle in compared to the nontreatment group.
