Evaluation of the Clinical and Psychological Impact of Vitamin D Replacement in Adolescent Females at Risk for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)

If the patient meets Rotterdam requirements and their serum vitamin D level is between 6 and 29 ng/mL, the patient and their guardian will be invited for inclusion in the research by either dedicated research nurses or certified research nurses. Using the Beck Depression Inventory-II, the gold standard self-report depression questionnaire, will be evaluated at time of randomization, 3 months post randomization, and 6 months post randomization. All adolescents seen at Yale New Haven Children Hospital outpatient clinics with a screening system for patients with clinically high rates of depression are now administered with a depression screening tool. Patients will be unblinded, and patients with vitamin D levels below threshold will be treated with vitamin D therapy after post-trial analysis. The Effect of Time-restricted Eating on Insulin Levels and Other Metabolic Abnormalities in Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome: A Randomised Feasibility Study of Real-world Clinical Advice

Background: Polycystic ovarian syndrome is the most common reproductive endocrinopathy in women of reproductive age with numerous associated metabolic disorders, including hyperinsulinemia, insulin resistance, and a high lifetime risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus. In several endocrinopathies, the effects of time-restricted eating on metabolic profiles have been investigated, but there are no studies in PCOS. Methods: This research will explore the possibility of time-restricted eating in PCOS management, as well as the effects on insulin levels and other metabolic characteristics. The investigators will enroll 20 patients with PCOS in order to do this. Participants select their own 6-hour period based on their lifestyle and preference. Usual eating habits, no time limit, no other dietary advice If fasting, participants are allowed to drink plain water, unflavoured/unsweetened sparkling water, black breakfast tea, and black coffee.
