This paper details the results associated with the reclamation of mineral oils containing PCBs by the Sunohio PCBX process, a chemical destruction process for Polychlorinated biphenyls. The treated oil's physical, chemical, and electrical properties were determined by three ASTM standard tests and three special acceptance tests. The majority of the treated oil qualities were satisfactory in physical and chemical properties, according to the test results; however, some of the treated oil characteristics were not suitable in electrical performance in comparison to ASTM and TVA standards. The improved oil quality was very similar to the ASTM recommended guidelines for new oil. The PCBX process effectively removed PCBs from a concentration of 2 ppM or less, according to the TVA test results, but the oil quality from the untreated to the treated state was not statistically significant.
