Gut microbiota and metabonomics used to explore the mechanism of Qing'e Pills in alleviating osteoporosis.

"Context" "The traditional Chinese medicine Qing'e Pills has been used to treat postmenopausal osteoporosis. Objective We investigated the regulatory effects of QEP on gut microbiota in osteoporosis. Materials and methods Eighteen female SD rats were divided into three groups: sham surgery, ovariectomized, and ovariectomized were divided into three groups, with QEP treating them. QEP was administered to OVX + QEP rats for eight weeks, six weeks after ovariectomy. Differences in gut microbiota were discovered by 16S rRNA gene sequencing. FAEE exerts a protective effect against osteoporosis by regulating the MAPK signalling pathway.

Discussion and conclusions These results showed that FAEE could be used to reduce osteoporosis by the MAPK signalling pathway, meaning that FAEE could be a potential therapeutic candidate for osteoporosis.

The impact of various anti-osteoporosis drugs on all-cause mortality after hip fractures: A nationwide population study.

"Anti-osteoporosis therapy following hip fractures may reduce the overall mortality risk. " This population-based cohort study was designed to determine the degree of reduced mortality after various anti-osteoporosis regimens post hip fracture surgery. Using the Taiwan National Health Insurance Research Database, we conducted this cohort study to identify patients with newly diagnosed osteoporosis and hip fractures from 2009 to 2017. A total of 45,226 new cases of osteoporotic hip fracture have been reported. Patients treated with bisphosphonates had a lower mortality risk than those treated with selective estrogen receptor modulators. Patients treated with zoledronic acid had a lower mortality risk than those treated with oral bisphosphonates. However, patients receiving denosumab and zoledronic acid showed no significant difference in mortality. Different anti-osteoporosis drugs for postsurgical patients were associated with different degrees of mortality decline.
