Efficacy and Safety of Lasmiditan as a Novel Acute Treatment in Chinese Patients with Migraine: A Subpopulation Analysis of the Randomized Controlled Phase 3 CENTURION Trial.

There has been no such acute treatment for migraine in Chinese patients over the past two decades. The CENTURION study, conducted in Mexico, is a multi-country, placebo-controlled phase 3 research designed to determine the first attack efficacy and consistency of lasmidon response in acute migraine treatment.

Recent advances in targeting calcitonin gene-related peptide for the treatment of menstrual migraine: A narrative review.

Menstrual migraine has a longer course and greater drug resistance than non-perimenstrual migraine. Continuous effectiveness and tolerability have been demonstrated in the prevention of chronic or episodic migraine prevention, and they have been fully approved for clinical use. In MM therapy, we will discuss the role of CGRP receptor antagonists and anti-CGRP mAbs. We'll also address the role of anti-CGRP mAbs and CGRP receptor antagonists in migraine therapy and the medications that inhibit CGRP release in a later stage. The treatment of MM by anti-CGRP mAbs or CGRP receptor antagonists, Altogether, the anti-CGRP mAbs or CGRP receptor antagonists demonstrated good efficiency and safety.

Case Report: Recurrent Hemiplegic Migraine Attacks Accompanied by Intractable Hypomagnesemia Due to a de novo TRPM7 Gene Variant.

Transient receptor potential melastatin 7 is a widely distributed chanzyme composed of a divalent cation channel permeable to calcium and magnesium, as well as a cytosolic serine-threonine u03b1-kinase domain. So far, no clinical cases of TRPM7 gene variants and hypomagnesemia have been reported. From 2018 to 2021, one patient with recurrent hemiplegic migraine attacks accompanied by acute hypoglycosemia was followed at Tianjin Children's Hospital. To determine the etiology of hemiplegic migraine attacks and hypomagnesemia in this patient, genomic analysis was done using whole-exome sequencing and Sanger sequencing. We introduced a novel version of Met1000Val located in the TRPM7 protein's transmembrane region, which is possibly critical to the normal functioning of the ion channel. Our research expands the TRPM7 gene variant spectrum, emphasizes the importance of molecular genetic testing in patients with TRPM7 gene deficiency, and establishes a causal correlation between TRPM7 gene variants and disease manifestations.

Microstructural white matter alterations associated with migraine headaches: a systematic review of diffusion tensor imaging studies.

The pathophysiology of migraine as a headache disorder is also uncertain. Diffusion tensor imaging has greatly enhanced our knowledge of brain microstructure in this disorder. Here, we sought to review DTI studies in migraine and determine the causes of heterogeneity by investigating diffusion parameter changes related to clinical characteristics and migraine subtypes. In addition, migraine associated with depressive/anxiety symptoms revealed significant changes in the corpus callosum, internal capsule, and superior longitudinal fasciculus. There were no significant differences between migraine patients with and without aura. Overall, the differences between chronic and episodic migraine showed inconsistency across studies. These changes may show neuronal injury and neuronal plasticity responses either as a result of migraine triggers or as a symptom of persistent migraine pain. Longitudinal studies using advanced modalities may provide new insight into migraine subtypes' root microstructural changes.

Resting-state occipital alpha power is associated with treatment outcome in patients with chronic migraine.

This review looked at the relationship between resting-state cortical oscillations and 3-month treatment success in patients with CM. Patients with CM were recruited with demographic, socioeconomic, and headache profiles, as well as the healthy controls. Patients with CM were divided into responders and nonresponders following three months of flunarizine-treated patients with CM. Patients with CM had elevated anxiety, depression, and exhaustion, which were all present. In the right S1's right S1 patients with CM, theta's proficiency in bilateral S1 and alpha and gamma increased in patients with CM. In bilateral V1 communication, responders had higher alpha powers than those in responders. Alpha powers also had strong correlations with changes in monthly headache days, indicating strong correlations. Patients with CM who were not responsive to preventive therapy were also affected with increased resting-state alpha levels. In addition, rises in migraine attack frequency were correlated with baseline alpha power.

The safety of acupuncture for migraine prevention during pregnancy.

While there is growing evidence for the efficacy and safety of acupuncture for migraine in the general population, there are no studies on acupuncture during pregnancy. With this retrospective review, we wanted to see if there is a correlation between acupuncture treatment and preterm delivery and side effects of therapy. According to a number of treatment sessions and stratifying the research sample by age group and risk pregnancy, acupuncture was carried out. According to our preliminary results, acupuncture can be safe during pregnancy in women with migraine.

Migraine Prevalence and Analysis of Dietary Habits in Relation to Headache in the Female Population: A Single-Center Study From Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

This research sought to determine the prevalence of migraine and investigate the connection of the headache to female students and workers of King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences - Jeddah's dietary habits, as well as determining the connection between migraine attacks and the available food items on the campus's campus. This survey was conducted to determine the presence of migraine among female students and employees in KSAU-HS. Of the first questionnaire's participants, those who met the International Classification of Headache Disorders criteria for migraine were given a second questionnaire to explore their migraine headaches and to determine lifestyle and diet-related aggravating factors. Chocolate intake and headaches was linked to chocolate consumption, headaches, according to seven studies, there was no relationship between caffeine and headaches. No definite association was established by the respondents between migraine attacks and the following food items: citrus fruits, pickles, cheese, and dairy products. Conclusion Our report revealed that the widespread practices for excessive consumption of coffee and caffeinated beverages at food stores within the educational establishment are ocult causes for headaches in a significant number of students with migraines. The latest shift in dietary habits in our community that has a large intake of caffeine and other tyramine-rich food items has had negative impacts on productivity and the economy, as well as the economy.

Epigenetic Connection of the Calcitonin Gene-Related Peptide and Its Potential in Migraine.

Targeting CGRP and its receptor by their antagonists and antibodies was a breakthrough in migraine therapy, but further research into migraine CGRP can be helpful. CGRP, on the other hand, can change the epigenetic profile of neuronal and glial cells. Both CpG islands that may be specifically methylated in migraine patients can be found in migraine patients, according to the calca gene's promoter. DNA methylation and lncRNAs were shown to be involved in the cell-specific alternative splicing of the CALCA primary transcript. CGRP can play a role in changes in neural cytoarchitecture that are controlled by histone deacetylase 6 and may be related to migraines. CGRP values are correlated with the expression of several miRNAs in plasma, making them useful peripheral indicators of migraine. The main role of CGRP in inflammatory pain transmission may be epigenetically restricted.
