Demonstrability of Narrowband Internet of Things technology in advanced metering infrastructure

Smart grid, smart meters are typically fixed in a specific location and schedule reading of interval meter data. Both the deployment and the energy-constrained network for an extremely large AMI network necessitate optimal communication technologies that minimize energy use, minimize energy use, simplify network topology, and extend network lifetime. Narrowband Internet of Things inherits from the older LTE but does several simplifications as a new 3GPP radio interface technology specifically developed for low power wide area networks. We provide a research on AMI communications, emphasize on the key technologies of NB-IoT, analyze the effectiveness of NB-IoT networks in a real world, and illustrate the promise of NB-IoT to assist and raise AMI in the smart grid.
