Iatrogenic second transfer metatarsalgia and the first metatarsal shortening and elevation after Scarf osteotomy.

This study aimed to check out the shortened first metatarsal size and elevation and to compare teams with and without second transfer metatarsalgia after Scarf osteotomy. Methods The first metatarsal size of 123 feet was determined via the Maestro's approach using the metatarsal axial length and the relative second metatarsal outcropping to the first metatarsal. Metatarsal altitude was measured using the first metatarsal angle. The group with transfer metatarsalgia revealed a much more reduced first metatarsal axial size, a substantially much longer relative 2nd metatarsal projection, and a dramatically reduced first metatarsal angle than the control team postoperatively.
