High GILT Expression Is Associated with Improved Survival in Metastatic Melanoma Patients Treated with Immune Checkpoint Inhibition.

In melanoma samples, there are disparities in the GILT protein expression in malignant melanocytes. However, the relationship of GILT in metastatic melanoma in patients treated with ICI and the cell type expressing GILT associated with survival has yet to be established. Patients treated with ICI patients with ICI showed improved progression-free and overall survival in metastatic melanoma samples using RNA sequencing results. In 100% and 65% of metastatic melanoma specimens, respectively, Positive GILT immunohistochemical staining in antigen-presenting cells and melanoma cells was observed. In the subset of patients treated with ICI in the clinical trial, elevated GILT protein expression within melanoma cells was associated with improved overall survival. These results show that high GILT mRNA expression in bulk tumor samples and high GILT protein expression in melanoma cells are related to increased survival in ICI-treated patients.
