In this review, we investigated the potential prognostic value of matrix metalloproteinase-12 as a predictor of vascular invasion in HCC patients. MMP12 overexpression has been attributed to poor prognosis in HCC patients with vascular invasion. MMP12 expression was directly related to hypomethylation status and was positively associated with tumor immune cell infiltration and the expression of immune cell-related biomarkers, according to hypomethylation status and closely associated with tumor immune cell infiltration and the expression of immune cell-related biomarkers.

Kinetochore-associated protein 1 promotes the invasion and tumorigenicity of cervical cancer cells via matrix metalloproteinase-2 and matrix metalloproteinase-9.

We began investigating the role of KNTC1 in cervical cancer in this research. In the Gene Expression Omnibus database for bioinformatics analyses, the KNTC1 gene and related information were downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas and dataset GSE63514. Protein expression levels of matrix metallopeptide 2 and matrix metallopeptide 9 were determined by western blotting. Tumor formation in vivo was determined in Nude mouse models of subcutaneous xenograft tumor formation. CCK8 and colony formation assay findings revealed that the proliferation rate of SiHa and C-33A cells was reduced when KNTC1 was silenced, which led to CCK8 and colony formation. According to KNTC1 knockdown, the invasion and migration capabilities of SiHa and C-33A cells in the western blot and Transwell assays, assays resulted in reduced expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9. We also established the in-vivo and in-vitro studies that demonstrated the therapeutic effects of KNTC1 on cervical cancer, and we speculated that KNTC1 will aid tumor formation via MMP9 and MMP2.

IQGAP1 enhances cell invasion and matrix metalloproteinase-2 expression through upregulating NF-κB activity in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma cells.

As an oncogene, an IQ motif containing GTPase activating protein 1 is involved in cell biological functions of numerous tumors. IQGAP1 and MMP2 expression and correlation in esophageal cancer tissues were assessed by online databases and immunohistochemistry in this research. Cell proliferation, migration, and invasion capability, as well as the expression of MMP2 and NF-B expression were measured in ESCC cells. In addition, the cellular malignant phenotypes of ESCC and MMP2 expression in IQGAP1 overexpressing cells after treatment with the NF-B inhibitor pyrrolidine carbohydrate acid or JSH-23 were discovered. The expression of IQGAP1 and MMP2 in ESCC tissues was up-regulated and positively correlated. IQGAP1 plays a tumor suppressor of ESCC cells and the expression of MMP2 by upregulating NF-B activity, providing a promising therapeutic target against ESCC.
