Technoeconomic Analysis of Rare-Earth Metal Recycling Using Efficient Metal Distillation

This paper discusses magnet recycling technologies and focuses on the technological feasibility of liquid metal leaching and distillation, as well as the effects of a new continuous gravity-driven multiple effect thermal system metal distillation techniques on energy use and overall cost. The G-METS device can potentially reduce the overall process's electricity consumption by 64 kWh/kg, which is about 30% less than traditional distillation of ore and 66% less than conventional distillation.
