Recovery of nearly 8,000 metagenome-assembled genomes substantially expands the tree of life

The phylogenetic diversity of currently available microbial genomes has been limited by challenges in cultivating microorganisms. These genomes contribute to a greater phylogenetic diversity of bacterial and archaeal genome trees by more than 30%, and they contain the first representatives of 17 bacterial and three archaeal candidate phyla. We also isolated 245 genomes from the Patescibacteria superphylum, finding that the relative abundance of this group varies significantly with various protein marker types.

Minimum information about a single amplified genome (MISAG) and a metagenome-assembled genome (MIMAG) of bacteria and archaea

The number of genomes from uncultivated microbes will soon outnumber the number of isolate genomes in public databases, in a survey. Minimum Information about a Single-Cell Genome and Minimum Information About Genomes Extraverted from Biogenomes for Bacteria and Archaea is a web site that reports the minimum information about a Genome and Minimum Information about Genomes Obtained from Wikipedias. Minimum Information about a Marker Gene Sequence, Minimum Information about a Marker Gene Sequence, Minimum Information about a Marker Gene Sequence, and Minimum Information about a Marker Gene Sequence are all examples of the International Geneomics Consortium's requirements. The guidelines were created in the context of the International Genome Sequence Consortium's Minimum Information about a Geneome Sequence, Minimum information about a Genome Sequence, and Minimum Information about a Marker Generic Sequence.
