The kidney has been identified as a target organ for patulin-induced toxicity in several studies. In addition, PAT-exposed rats were tested using LC-HRMS-basedmetabolomics. In the proximal convoluted tubules, the histopathological and toxicological investigation showed a significant increase in glomerular mesangial cells, vacuolar degeneration, and cast deposition. Rats treated with PAT-treated rats' serum and urine revealed metabolic perturbations, as shown by metabolomic investigation. This research, in conclusion, extends our knowledge of PAT-induced metabolic degeneration and its effects on renal function.
