Randomized, Double-Blind, Crossover Study to Assess the Effects of a Spermidine Supplement on Metabolomics in Older Men

Supplementation with oral spermidine or placebo for up to four weeks is a placebo controlled, double blind, randomised, within subject controlled study. The first one week supplementation period is expected to be healthy males aged 50-70 following screening, participants will undergo a two-week run-in phase and then randomly assigned to blinded active or placebo for the first one week supplementation period. The complete review will require six visits by each study subject to the study site over a period of nine weeks, for blood and urine samples, and dietary intake analysis.

Comparison Between 0.9% Saline and Balanced Crystalloid on Intraoperative Metabolomic Profiles Among Patients Undergoing Major Spine Surgery: a Randomized Controlled Trial

Patients on acute and critically ill patients, as well as surgical patients, need Intravenous fluid. However, early research indicates that 0. 9% saline is related to hyperchloremic acidosis, which affects cell metabolism and may lead to higher prognosis in acute or critically ill patients. Therefore, the metabolic differences between these two liquids can only be apparent in a particular metabolic pathway that can be easily masked by the complex pathophysiological changes in acute and critically ill patients. By comparison, surgical patients undergoing major spine surgery have a substantial amount of intravenous infusion during surgery, and there is nothing complicated with complicated pathophysiological variations of cormorbid diseases. This analysis, according to this study, seek to determine the metabolomic differences between 0. 9% saline and balanced crystalloid among patients undergoing major spine surgery using the liquid chromatography mass spectrometry technique.
