Mass spectrometry of Cissus rotundifolia leaf and stem revealed the presence of approximately 30 compounds, out of which 15 were identified in the NIST14 library based on their mass spectral structure. In comparison, 36 compounds were found in the aqueous and methanolic extracts of C. quadrangularis stem's aqueous and methanolic extracts, out of which 21 compounds were identified by NIST14 library, out of which 21 compounds were identified by NIST14. In addition to these, coumaran, quinoline, and trans-phytol were also present in the extracts of C. quadrangularis. In C. rotundifolia, the proportion of betulinal dehyde and lauric acid was higher, while in C. rotundifolia, the corresponding metabolite profiling revealed a higher risk of methyl palmitate and coumaran. Cissus species are medicinally known for their bone healing abilities, and their metabolic profiling of these herbs can be used to identify and characterization of the novel bioactive compounds responsible for various medicinal properties.

Meanwhile, a validated and optimized ultra-performance liquid chromatography with triple quadrupole mass spectrometry system was developed for the simultaneous analysis of four markers in FCIP.
