This study was designed to determine the risk of malignant transformation in patients with VCL, as well as the role of drinking habits and ADH2 and ADH1B genetic polymorphisms in the malignant transformation of VCL. Twenty-three out of 136 VCL patients eventually developed laryngeal carcinoma, resulting in a cumulative malignant transformation rate of 16. 9%.
