Poor Uptake of MMR Vaccine 1-year Post-Measles Outbreak: New York City and Israel.

At the time of measles testing and 1-year post-testing, vaccination results were examined to determine vaccination status for measles, mumps, and rubella. Measles was tested on a total of 264 children, and 102 had confirmed measles. Vitamin A supplement for only 20 of measles-positive cases received a complete two-dose course. About 84% of children with measles had been under the age of 1 year at diagnosis and were completely eligible for MMR vaccines, with 82. 4% 1 year at the time of diagnosis and fully eligible for MMR vaccine. At testing, measles-negative children were significantly more likely to have MMR than measles-positive children. About 74% of measles-negative cases and just 51% of measles-positive patients had received MMR vaccine one year ago, and just 57% of measles-positive cases had received MMR vaccine. MMR-negative groups were unimmunized children who were eligible for vaccination, and the majority of measles cases occurred in unimmunized children, and over 25% of children in both measles-positive and -negative groups remained unimmunized for the MMR 1-year post-outbreak.
