Risk for hypoglycemic emergency with levofloxacin use, a population-based propensity score matched nested case-control study

An association between oral levofloxacin use and a hypoglycemic emergency has been identified. This review was conducted to see if oral levofloxacin used increased the risk of HE. The control subjects were chosen in a 10-fold ratio to avoid indication bias. Based on the adjusted diabetic complication severity index score, the T2D severity was classified. According to a multivariate logistic regression review, antibiotic use was correlated with an elevated risk of HE. Both antibiotic users and antibiotic non-users were at risk of HE in comparison to antibiotic non-users, fluoroquinolones and sulfonamides. Levofloxacin was significantly higher than that of cephalosporins and penicillin, according to a risk factor for HE. T2D patients with oral levofloxacin were found to be significantly associated with HE in T2D patients, as compared to other antibiotic use.
