The Role of Lactate in Lipolysis and Catabolism in Humans

When plasma lactate concentrations reach levels comparable to those seen during high intensity workout, lactate can have anti-lipolytic properties. This research will examine how lactate levels similar to those obtained during high intensity exercise may have an effect on human lipolysis. Both study days will be identical except for the interventions: Intravenous sodium chloride D/L-lactate Intravenous sodium chloride, Intravenous sodium chloride. During the basal period, the study participants' resting energy consumption and respiratory quotient were estimated by indirect calorimetry. During both the basal- and clamp periods, estimation cardiac ejection fraction by echocardiography and measuring blood pressure are estimated.
