This study seeks to compare the clinical and radiological results of PKP using a unilateral pedicle strategy using a traditional bone cement delivery device and a directional bone cement delivery system to determine the value of a directional delivery system for the therapy of thoracolumbar compression fracture in the elderly.

Following KP, identification of risk factors for new VCF after KP may help minimize their incidence in patients. This research sought to retrospectively determine the key risk factors for new VCF after KP, including those related to osteoporosis medications used after kyphoplasty. Following KP's lower rate of creating new VCFs than those treated with alendronate, calcium, selective estrogen receptor modulator, and risendronate, the group was treated with zoledronate. According to this report, patients with new VCFs after KP, lower BMD, greater intradiscal cement leakage, higher KA recovery rate, and lower baseline vertebral height were likely risk factors for the creation of new VCFs. In addition, zoledronate, which is one of the drugs used to treat osteoporosis following KP, tends to slow the growth of new VCFs compared to other bisphosphonates, SERMs, or calcium.
