We investigated the combined effects of hypokinesia and external cooling in male and female WKY and SHR rats' ventricular myocardium and parameters of homeostasis of the blood system. In male hypertensive SHR rats, the thickness of the left ventricular wall most rapidly decreased. The main factor in male and female morphological change in the myocardium is probably related to sex hormones.

Melatonin-mediated attenuation of fluphenazine-induced hypokinesia in C57BL/6 mice is dependent on the light/dark phase.

With a targeted deletion of the MT1 melatonin receptor, we were able to investigate the effects of melatonin in mice lacking endogenous pineal melatonin, and the effects of the modification of environmental lighting in mice with a targeted deletion of the MT1 melatonin receptor. In both C57WT and C57 MT1KO groups, mice were shown to have hypokinetic effects by fluphenazine treatment during the dark phase in a light environment. According to these studies, fluphenazine-induced hypokinesia is more evident under light than under dark, and that melatonin is only effective at combating hypokinesia during the light phase. Our results show that the effect of melatonin on hypokinesia was not solely mediated by the MT1 receptor in the C57BL/6 mouse, not solely mediated by the MT1 receptor in the C57BL/6 mouse, suggesting the possibility of activation of the MT2 receptor as the mechanism of action that is restricted by the light/dark environment.
