"Cardiac anatomy plays a vital role in determining cardiac function. " In this work, we test the possibility that in a statistical shape model the modes that are most relevant for describing anatomy are also the most relevant for determining cardiac electromechanics simulations. We produced a SSM from 19 cases, using patient-specific four-chamber meshes from cardiac CT images in asymptomatic patients. Functional simulation results correlated best with modes 2, 3, 3 and 9, on average. The most useful in determining simulated left ventricular mechanics and pressure-derived phenotypes were Modes 2 and 9, respectively. In the healthy adult human heart, shape modes that account for significant amounts of anatomical variation do not indicate equivalent levels of electromechanical variation. As a result, in cardiac models, expressing patient anatomy using a limited number of ways of anatomical variation can result in a decline in the accuracy of simulation electromechanical function.

"Objective: To determine the morphologic characteristics of the left coronary artery in pigs. " Methods: We analyzed 158 pig hearts.
