Using panel results representative of the American adult population, this report investigates the discontinuity of attitudes toward homosexuality. The finding of an age-graded increase in stability suggests that homosexuality's attitudes are established earlier in life, and that the susceptibility to attitude change develops throughout the adult life. This data also supports a generational replacement explanation for recent shifts in American public opinion on homosexuality as aging-stability translates into cohort effects on the aggregate level.

About a decade ago, Wright and colleagues released three studies investigating the connection between heterosexual U. S. adults' attitudes towards homosexuality and pornography consumption. They believed that pornography use could either contribute to more conservative attitudes or accepting attitudes. Pornography's explicitly predicted homosexuality and support for same-sex marriage in order to indirectly forecast these outcomes by a more nontraditional approach toward sex, although Pornography's more explicit statements of homosexuality and help for same-sex marriage predicted moral acceptance and help for same-sex marriage and indirectly predicted these outcomes. However, Pornography usage in the most recent results was neither specifically nor indirectly related to attitudes toward civil rights for gay people.
