Human health risks associated with metals in paddy plant (Oryza sativa) based on target hazard quotient and target cancer risk.

If the metal concentrations of metals exceed the legal threshold, Paddy plants contaminated with metals could be harmful to human health if human health is impaired. This research seeks to determine the risks of As, Se, Cu, Cr, and Ni's disseminations in various regions of paddy plants collected from Sekinchan, Malaysia. Meanwhile, the bioaccumulation factor for all metals was less than 1. 0, indicating that paddy plants only absorb metals from the soil but not accumulate in the grains. According to one out of 1000 exposed people, a risk of cancer in one out of ten target cancer risks is 1. 10 - 3 for As through rice intake. The results of this research may help researchers and policymakers monitor and develop tactics in managing As and other metals in paddy plants, particularly in Southeast Asian nations.

Triangulating the New Frontier of Health Geo-Data: Assessing Tick-Borne Disease Risk as an Occupational Hazard among Vulnerable Populations.

This study illustrates a multi-modal approach to triangulating geographically identified health information that includes studies on canine tick species, Lyme disease prevalence, and patient symptom severity, indicating potential subsequent disease burden. TBD risk was determined by symptom, occupation, and location, based on symptoms, occupations, and locations. Respondents who were found to have a high risk of a TBD were also more likely to report the most common signs of LD and other TBDs on the Horowitz Multiple Systemic Infectious Disease Syndrome Questionnaire. Many in the highly ranked scoring group also experienced more days of poor health and mental stability. Also of note, nearly a third of those with persistent symptoms had never had a recent Lyme disease diagnosis.
