Evaluating spatially adaptive guidelines for the treatment of gonorrhea to reduce the incidence of gonococcal infection and increase the effective lifespan of antibiotics

In the absence of point-of-care gonorrhea diagnostics that demonstrate antibiotic susceptibility, gonorrhea treatment is specific and determined by standardized protocols. To determine if spatially adaptive treatment guidelines based on local perceptions of resistance prevalence could prolong the useful life of hypothetical antibiotics in 16 U. S. metropolitan areas.

Mathematical analysis of a model for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea codynamics with optimal control

In a population, a model for Chlamydia trachomatis and Gonorrhea codynamics is designed and evaluated to determine the effects of targetedted therapy for each of the diseases on their co-infections. The complete model is shown to suffer backward bifurcation if the model's number is smaller than unity, according to Centre Manifold Theory. A decrease in the number of females and males co-infected with CT and gonorrhea is due to the introduction of male CT therapy and male gonorrhea therapy. In addition, offering male CT diagnosis and female gonorrhea therapy results in a decrease in the number of females and males co-infected with CT and gonorrhea. In addition, implementing female CT examination and male gonorrhea therapy results in the lowest co-infected cases, which are in comparison to all of intervention methods.
