Integrated Optimization and Control of a Hybrid Gas Turbine/sCO 2 Power System

The project team established a baseline for a combined cycle power plant using a production gas turbine and a scaled sCO 2 power cycle only utilizing exhaust heat recovery. Echogen's in-house developed sCO 2 cycle transient model in GT-Suite system simulation software, and had collaborated with Siemens Finsp;u00e5ng for the gas turbine transient model, as well as hybrid load analysis, as well as hybrid power cycle load analysis. SGT-750 Siemens gas turbine's transient model was a U201cblack boxu201d functional mock-up interface model created by Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery in Finsp, Sweden. Echogen's GT-SUITE 1D system simulation software platform built the transient model for the sCO 2 power cycle. The gas turbine and sCO 2 power cycle interacted at two points in the integrated model, the first one being the gas turbine exhaust gas flow rate and temperature, which were inputs to the sCO 2 power cycle scheme. The gas turbine load demand was equal to the total demand minus the sCO 2 cycle power produced, according to a given combined-cycle load demand. Siemens PTI's integrated model was tested for two cases of grid load demand, both positive-step and negative-step in grid load demand for a micro-grid load demand curve.

Leaf gas exchange raw data, 2015 - 2017, at Manaus, Brazil

Raw leaf gas exchange data from the NGEE Tropics K34 tower site on a plateau near Manaus, Brazil, is included in this data set. Leaves on a target tree were picked by a tree branch near the tower. In some cases, the branch was naturally located near the tower, but in other cases, a short rope was used to pull the branch closer to the tower for greater access to leaves. The gas exchange system was lifted to the level of the branch's roof on the tower, and the sensor head/leaf enclosure was attached near the branch of interest using a magic arm. We monitored leaf gas exchange from 5:00 AM to 5:00 p. m. , randomly cycling through the targeted branch's nearly 20 leaves. See data sources for a data pack containing related metadata. To minimize reliance on carbon as an energy carrier, energy utilities are investigating emerging energy sources to reduce reliance on carbon as an energy carrier. However, hydrogen blending into natural gas has significant impacts on safety, and must be investigated. Those designers and installers of hydrogen gas blending into natural gas distribution systems must comply with local building codes and cooperate with the authority in charge of safety and granting approvals. When injecting hydrogen into the natural gas system, safety issues could be apparent. These codes and standards should be reviewed to determine where safety gaps can be apparent.

Design, construction, and test of the Gas Pixel Detectors for the IXPE mission

The Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer, a NASA Small Explorer mission built to carry out polarization experiments in the 2u20138 keV band, which will be launched in late 2021 and equipped with imaging, spectroscopy, and timing capabilities. A trio of three polarization-sensitive Gas Pixel Detectors are included in the focal plane's design, each based on a custom ASIC operating as a charge-collecting device. We'll look at the manufacture, manufacturing, and testing of the IXPE focal-plane detectors in this paper, with particular attention on the link between the science drivers, the success metrics, and the operational aspects.
