Massage for Prostate Cancer-Related Fatigue

"To determine whether a 6-week Swedish Massage Therapy intervention reduces cancer-related exhaustion significantly more than Light Touch or Wait List Control among prostate cancer survivors who have undergone both radiation and androgen deprivation therapy. " To determine if the hypothesized reduction in cancer-related fatigue with SMT is connected to a modulation of specific immune system factors that promote chronic inflammation. Arm I: Patients receive SMT over 45 minutes every week for six weeks. Patients are greeted with LT more than 45 minutes every week for six weeks. Arm II: Patients receive LT over 45 minutes every week for six weeks. Arm III: Patients have no intervention for six weeks.

Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

"Objective: The primary aim is to investigate the clinical and genetic phenotypes of post-infectious myelitis-chronic fatigue syndrome. " The following three study groups include 50 ME/CFS patients who recovered from COVID-19 infection, 50 non-fatigued patients with a documented history of a complete recovery from COVID-19 infection, and 50 healthy volunteers. The study has a target of finishing all research procedures on 20 of the 20 participants in each group. Up to 36 people with a community diagnosis of ME/CFS will be enrolled in focus groups to address the effects of post-exertional malaise. At the NIH Clinical Center, participants will be treated to a phenotyping tour, which will consist of a 2-5 day inpatient admission. After the phenotyping visit by a case adjudication process that used an expert medical committee and published guidelines, case status for ME/CFS participants will be determined. Participants who fulfill inclusion criteria will be able to participate in an exercise stress tour that will include a 5-10 day stay inpatient admission. Microbiome characterization in collected samples at baseline and after maximal exercise inertion. Following maximal exercise overload, characterization of physical and cognitive exhaustion using functional magnetic resonance imaging and transcranial magnetic stimulation at baseline and transcranial magnetic stimulation. Following maximum exercise exertion, characterization of brain function and connectivity at baseline and subsequent maximal exercise exertion was established. Gene expression profiles in collected samples at baseline and in the aftermath of maximal exercise exertion are characterized.

Characterizing Fatigue Experienced by Cancer Patients Receiving Primary Treatment and Cancer Survivors

"Longitudinal studies related to treatment-related exhaustion in cancer patients have been published, but there are no studies that show advancements in molecular mechanisms before and after cancer therapy, which can help identify individuals who are vulnerable to experiencing exhaustion during and after therapy. " This prospective, observational research will explore the molecular-genetic causes of fatigue experienced by cancer patients receiving various drugs. The main aim of the study is to report changes in the self-reported exhaustion experienced by cancer patients over time.

Elaboration of an External Rotators Fatigue Test With an XCo

"The Xco endurance test's reliability will be tested in sedentary adults first, at first. " The effects of exhaustion on rotator cuff muscle strength and function of functional testing results will be determined during those sessions. To pass the XCo endurance test, the participant will be seated on a chair, arm at 90 percent of abduction, elbow flexed at 90 degrees, and standing on a wooden tripod. Participants will be asked to achieve an external rotation movement of 90 degrees and then back to the starting position as often as possible at 140 bpm with the participants from a 90 degrees of abduction and a neutral position of rotation. The Modified Borg Scale would be used to ensure that each subject was completely exhausted when the examination was suspended. ".

A Proof-of-Concept Trial on the Effect of Ketamine on Fatigue

"Purpose: The aim of the investigation is to determine the anti-fatigue effects of ketamine in people with chronic illness. " We recently reported that upregulation of glutamate receptors could predict people who will experience chronic fatigue one year after undergoing cancer therapy, meaning that exhaustion may have common glutamatergic markers with depression. Chronic exhaustion in a variety of medical disorders is largely triggered by similar biological mechanisms, so finding a potential anti-fatigue agent in one medical condition could be a helpful anti-fatigue therapy for other fatiguing disorders. The VAS score, which is greater than or equal to 50 mm fatigue, is regarded as the most relevant fatigue cutoff score for patients with chronic illness, but also captures the effect of a new pharmaceutical intervention for fatigue. Primary and Representative Secondary Outcomes: The primary outcome measure of the study is the change in self-reported fatigue VAS score before and three days after receiving ketamine or active comparator. In this study, a 20% decline in fatigue VAS scores three days after ketamine therapy was considered the primary indicator of effectiveness. GE's Analytic Plans: A linear mixed model with restricted maximum likelihood estimation will be used to investigate shifts in fatigue over the course of the trial, where all participants with at least a pre-dose and one post-dose test will be included. The change in fatigue score as measured by the self-reported fatigue test is the primary outcome measure of the study.

Virtual Reality Meditation for Fatigue in Persons With Rheumatoid Arthritis

"Meditation has been widely and effectively used in RA and other rheumatic diseases, but to date, VR meditation has yet to be available in this population. " Adult outpatients with clinically diagnosed rheumatoid arthritis will be recruited from a local rheumatoid arthritis clinic and learn how to use VR in their own homes. Patients will be able to choose from many virtual outdoor settings, three styles of meditation, and three session lengths when using two handheld controllers. Patient's experiences of RA, exhaustion, as well as experience of the virtual environment will be captured in patient interviews. The findings of this feasibility study will include feasibility, acceptance, expansion, and expansion of using VR meditation for managing fatigue in outpatients with RA.

Dietary Approaches to Treat Multiple Sclerosis-Related Fatigue Study

"The aim of this report is to determine the effect of the Swank Diet and the Wahls Elimination Diet on fatigue levels in people with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis sufferers who have chronic exhaustion. " When following the study diet, participants included fasting blood draws, weighed food records, motor and cognitive assessments, physical fitness assessment, questionnaires, and daily diet checklists.

Development of a Rapid Assessment Tool for Fatigue in Palliative Care

"Our company is developing a new rapid fatigue assessment instrument for use with people who have advanced cancer and are seeking treatment in either an active treatment or palliative setting, based on a series of qualitative studies. " Individuals who meet the definition of exhaustion will be lower than their mean POMS-Vsf scores of individuals who meet the definition of exhaustion and higher than the mean POMS-Vsf scores of individuals who meet the definition of exhaustion.

Neuropsychological Sequelae as a Risk Factor for Long COVID-19 Fatigue

"A set of structured questionnaires including the Chalder Fatigue Scale, Anxiety and Depression Hospital Scale, Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome, and Depression & Depression will be distributed to the patients at the medical consultation between the 6th and the 9th month after the first PCR or antigen positive SARS-CoV-2 test was administered to the patients at the medical consultation between the 6th and the 9th month," the clinical study revealed.
