Understanding energy efficiency decisions in the building sector – A survey of barriers and drivers in Sweden

For combating climate change, a healthy building market with a more energy-efficient and decarbonized building stock is vital. This paper contributes to the growing body of energy conservation investments by revealing a national survey of barriers and reasons for energy efficiency among 216 professionals in the Swedish building industry. Well-organized organizational structures were among the key factors for energy savings, which must be addressed in policy and legislation. Organizations operating in rural areas and more densely populated areas differed. In northern climate zones, an improved indoor climate was important.

Econometric analysis of pricing and energy policy regulations in Japan electric power exchange spot market

This report seeks to provide a quantitative overview of the energy policy changes impacting Japan spot market liberalization and evaluations the market clearing price and the regional spot prices based on the hourly contribution of the supply stack mix and the merit order effect. Total observations of 438,240 data records from 2016 to 2020 the study obtains an hourly dataset in panel data format from 2016 to 2020. The spot prices of Hokuriku and Chugoku tend to reduce the price increases in Kansai, while Tokyo and Tohoku are strongly related, with Jakarta and Tohoku going up. According to the MCP by 0. 1 percent, the addition of one u00a5/kWh to Tohoku's spot price is expected to raise the MCP by 0. 35 -u00a5/kWh, while the addition of one u00a5/kWh to Tokyo's spot price is expected to raise the MCP by 0. 04 %u00a5/kWh. The study further highlighted policy implications in limiting the use of hydroelectric storage as the most cost-effective option to strike the balance between renewable energy sources' intermittency.

Assessment of thermochemical technologies for wastewater sludge-to-energy: An advance MCDM model

The continued rise of population, industrial growth, and urbanization has all contributed to the inevitable production of wastewater sludge, which will require more sludge disposal and renewable energy generation technologies in the recent years. This research paper explores the potential selection of the most effective or economically viable thermochemical conversion techniques to treat, dispose, and produce gas energy in turn heat and electric power. This can be achieved through an advance multi-criteria decision making model that employs mathematical hierarchy analysis and the procedure for ordering of preference by similarity to the ideal solution to build a AHP-TOPSIS focusing on scientific and economic criteria. This process is considered one of the most effective thermochemical processes with zero waste production by pyrolysis conversion techniques, and it can gas recover energy and materials such as biogas, biochar, water, tar, etc.

P-graph optimization of energy crisis response in Leontief systems with partial substitution

Input-output analysis is used for modeling economic networks with linear equations describing intersectoral links. A P-graph graph theoretic approach to optimizing input-output devices has also been developed. Two case reports involving energy shortages triggered by extreme weather and military action are used to illustrate this modeling approach.

Can capsaicinoids and their analogs affect energy expenditure and substrate oxidation during exercise? A systematic review with acute studies

Capsaicinoids and their analogs are present in several varieties of peppers and have received a lot of attention as weight control agents. An increase in energy consumption and fat oxidation at rest has been noted, as well as appetite and energy intake reduction. Supplementation with CAP has also been shown to improve exercise results. Another potential effect of exercising CAP is to raise energy expenditure and fat oxidation. EE during exercise was found to be higher in EE during exercise in comparison to non-CAP conditions. Only one research found a rise in EE during exercise compared to non-CAP conditions. During exercise, we found seven studies that fulfilled our inclusion criteria for substrate oxidation measurement. One study showed lower fat oxidation under CAP conditions, while two others reported higher fat oxidation with CAP supplementation. Some increased EE and fat oxidation at rest, according to studies obtained, but this does not mean that the effect of CAP at rest was not carried over to exercise. CAP's effect on substrate oxidation during exercise can be determined by further studies.

A model predictive control strategy based on energy storage grid‐connected quasi‐z‐source inverters

Abstract The battery power generation system, which is based in UzS, incorporates the benefits of the qZS inverter and the battery energy storage device, which makes it a perfect match for the battery energy storage unit. A model predictive control scheme for the PV grid-u2010connected system based on an energy source inverter is suggested to achieve multi-objective cooperative control. The energy storage battery has been added to the traditional quasi-u2010Z source inverter. The discreteu2010time model of ESu2010qZSI is developed, and the cost function was generated by using the system state variables.

Optimal operation and sizing of pumped thermal energy storage for net benefits maximization

Abstract Summary: Current trends in the modern grid are leading to the design and deployment of energy storage units to assist in the integration of increasing renewable energy sources into the grid. This paper investigates a pumped thermal storage system for several grid services, including energy arbitrage, frequency control, spinning and non-u2010spinning reserve, and resource adequacy. The maximum profit from an individual grid service with a 30-21MWh PTES system was $ 522,520, according to the report, while value stacking could increase the benefits to $678,477.

Managing power imbalance with cloud energy storage in imbalance band market environment

The authors' review revealed a planning framework for a load-serving entity considering cloud energy storage as a valuable resource in the chaotic band market environment. The simulation findings show that running a cloud energy storage service is the most cost-effective option for the LSE. Compared to a LSE not involved in the cloud energy storage market, the authors found that a LSE operating the cloud energy storage industry in a volatile market environment to pursue its own interest better performs a portion of the SO's balance-taining responsibilities.

A novel privacy‐preserved voluntary outage management model on a transactive energy scheme

Abstract Unpredictable occurrence of natural disasters in modern power plants has greatly increased the attention on multi-u2010 microgrid systems outage management. The second stage of the second stage, directed by Lenn, is supposed to bring back the last stage's surplus power with the damaged MGs. These voluntary power agreements are pre-u2010-specified in contracts, adjusted between each MG and distributed system operator, and a joint system operator. The shown test grid is the IEEE 34node test system, and numerical results show the efficiency of the new multi-u2010objective strategy.
