Adults who wear denture dentures suffer from a complex array of oral health issues, with relatively few solutions available at this time. According to the most recent National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey results, 1 in 8 out of every 8 U. S. adults over the age of 65 is completely edentulous. In this survey findings, the average person over the age of 65 had just 21 teeth remaining, indicating a complete change from complete edentulism to partial edentulism. Our new study findings have shown that increasing the sample size of subjective patient reports will improve the statistical accuracy of subjective patient reports in a follow-up to our recent pilot study investigating MI Paste's application of complete dentures, in which our latest results have shown that the use of MI Paste can predictably improve the buffering capacity of a patient's saliva. The primary objectives of this proposed study were to gather further information on how MI Paste impacts patients' subjective assessments of the ease and security of their denture, as well as dry mouth symptoms in patients suffering from xerostomia. In addition, this review will include Biotene Dry Mouth Gel, a second therapeutic intervention, which would include an additional comparison variable regarding patient preferences regarding therapeutics under their removable prostheses. In addition, we predict that the qualitative changes in patients' self-reporting xerostomia will be of a statistically greater degree than those seen by patients with normal salivary function, as xerostomia has been associated with increased denture pain in previous research.

Dry mouth is a common problem among cancer patients who have undergone radiation therapy to the head and neck. For the second session, one type of acupuncture for one session and another form of acupuncture for another session will be administered. For the second session, one form of acupuncture for one session and another form of acupuncture will be used for one session. During Weeks 3-5 of your regularly scheduled radiotherapy visits, your acupuncture treatments will be within 3 to 7 days of each other. After each session, you will also complete another short questionnaire about dry mouth. To determine the amount of saliva produced, you will take a saliva sample before and after each acupuncture treatment. After you complete the dry mouth questionnaire after your second acupuncture session, your enrollment in the trial will be over.
