Analysis of lead, cadmium, and arsenic in colored cosmetics marketed in Pakistan

In 40 samples of colored cosmetics by Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy, we determined significant differences in As, Pb, and Cd concentrations across the colored cosmetics, revealing significant differences in As, Pb, and Cd concentrations among the colored cosmetics. Pb and As in lipstick and eye shadow samples, we found a high percentage of Pb and As. Pb and Cd concentrations in the samples of foundation cream samples were at a safe level. The color cosmetics industry in Pakistan must implement and enforce international requirements for colored cosmetics.
