Totally laparoscopic resection of right-sided colon cancer using transvaginal specimen extraction with a 10-mm-long abdominal incision

Background Natural orifice specimen extraction has been used as a means of reducing the incidence of surgical wound complications. We simplified the procedure for complete laparoscopic colectomy with transvaginal specimen extraction using the reduced port surgery technique with the ultimate intention of attenuating abdominal wall damage. Methods We prospectively gathered data on seven patients who underwent complete laparoscopic colectomy using transvaginal specimen extraction with a 10-mm-long abdominal incision for right-sided colon cancer from January 2014 to December 2021. Median's surgical time was 219 min, median blood loss was 23 ml, the median number of harvested lymph nodes was 21 and median margins were 17. 0 cm for the proximal margin and 9. 5 cm for the distal margin. There were no problems more acute than Clavien'u2013Dindo Grade II, and there was no mortality. There was once a year in the median for use intravenous analgesics from day 1 to discharge.

Evaluation of daidzein-loaded chitosan microcapsules for the colon cancer drug delivery: synthesis, characterization and release behaviour

Human colorectal cancer cells proliferation was inhibited by the daidzein-loaded microcapsules, with no significant decrease in the viability of human dermal fibroblasts. The apoptotic cell death in the HT-29 cells cultured by daidzein-loaded microcapsules was confirmed by expression analysis and flow cytometry results. According to the results, microencapsulation of daidzein by chitosan could be a cost-effective solution to colon cancer prevention and treatment.

Long non-coding RNA LBX2-AS1 predicts poor survival of colon cancer patients and promotes its progression via regulating miR-627-5p/RAC1/PI3K/AKT pathway

Colon cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors worldwide. Long non-coding RNAs play a role in colon cancer formation, according to increasing studies. The results revealed that the LBX2-AS1 level was significantly elevated in colon cancer tissues and was obviously correlated with tumor volume and early distant metastasis of patients. MiR-627-5p inhibited colon cancer formation, according to experimental studies. This report has found that LBX2-AS1 is a poor prognostic factor of colon cancer risk and can limit colon cancer progression by regulating the miR-627-5p/RAC1/PI3K/AKT pathway.

Background: Without proper investigation, an increasing risk of colon cancer surgery is delayed or postponed. Methods of Data Retrospective analysis of 19,046 patients in the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database of Medicare administrative claims of colon cancer patients between 2010 and 2015 was performed. Patients Overall, 46. 2% of patients received adherent care, 33. 1% had early surgery and ineffective work-up, 30. 1% had timely timingd surgery, but incomplete work-up, and 10. 4% underwent late surgery. According to a multivariable analysis, elderly, female, Black, and unmarried patients, as well as those who live in areas with higher poverty rates, were more likely to receive non-adherent services. Patients in teaching hospitals received complete attention, but they also underwent late surgery in comparison to non-teaching hospitals. Patients receiving guideline-adherent colon cancer treatment may be subjected to patient, socioeconomic, and hospital causes.

Expression and Prognostic Significance of Stem Cell Marker CD133 in Survival Rate of Patients with Colon Cancer

Introduction Today, colon cancer is one of the most common forms of gastrointestinal cancer worldwide. Cell proliferation and differentiation in several cancers, including colon cancer, have been shown by CD133 as a recognized cancer stem cell marker. By immunohistochemistry, we wanted to investigate the relationship between CD133 expression in colon cancer with prognostic factors and the survival rate of patients with colon cancer. Conclusion CD133 is a useful predictive or prognostic biomarker for CRC in clinical evaluation and may be used as a potential therapeutic target for CRC.

Combinatorial therapeutic approaches of photodynamic therapy and immune checkpoint blockade for colon cancer treatment

Reactive oxygen species production and induction of immune responses in photodynamic therapy have demonstrated dramatic therapeutic results on several forms of cancer by photodynamic therapy's unique therapeutic benefits. On the other hand, the photosensitizer indocyanine green can mediate PDT under near-infrared illumination, thus increasing the penetration depth of the excitation light into the tumor. We discovered that ICG is rapidly taken up in vitro by colorectal MC38 and CT26 tumor cells, boosting PDT-mediated cell death in vitro. ICG-treated tumor cells were discovered to engulf ICG-PDT-treated tumor cells and undergo phenotypic maturation, according to our findings, ICG causes immunogenic cell death. Given the benefits of ICG as a photosensitizer, we sought to develop a therapy that incorporates PDT and immune checkpoint blockade to enhance tumor prevention. Patient stratification based on urea cycle metabolism for exploration of combination immunotherapy in colon cancer

For the study of combination immunotherapy, cancer patients were further divided into two categories: clusters and risk groups. As hot tumors for immunotherapy, an investigation of consensus clustering and immune infiltration led to a cluster distribution and identified patients in cluster 1 with high immune infiltration levels as hot tumors for immunotherapy. Patients in cluster 1 had a higher immunogloboscore in immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy, while those in other risk groups had varying reactions to potential combination immunotherapeutic agents. To investigate mixed immunotherapy, we divided the colon cancer patients into four groups. Protein expression of two genes was upregulated, according to an immunohistochemistry report, but those of other two genes were downregulated or undetected in cancerous colon tissues. Conclusion Using subdivision to combine chemotherapy and immunotherapy will not only resolve the issue of immunotherapy in not hot tumors, but also promote the use of more effective personalized therapy plans in future.

Sensory neuron dysfunction in orthotopic mouse models of colon cancer

Due to autoimmune reactions, reports of neurological sequelae related to colon cancer are largely limited to rare cases of paraneoplastic syndromes. Sensor neuron function in other disease models is influenced by systemic inflammation associated with tumor formation, but the extent to which this occurs in colorectal cancer remains unclear. We induced orthotopic colorectal cancer by ortopic injection of two colorectal cancer cell lines in two separate mouse strains. No changes in sensory sensitivity or decreased well-being were observed in psychological assessments of pain sensitivity and activity during tumor formation. However, decrease in nerve fiber density was not linked to increased expression of cell injury markers in dorsal root ganglia, lumbar dorsal root ganglia neurons of tumor-bearing rabbits, but mitochondrial function showed deficits in mitochondrial function. Our analysis reveals that colon cancer is related to latent sensory neuron dysfunction in a pre-clinical setting, implicating cytokine/chemokine signaling in this process.

In his 50s, a 65-year-old man underwent bilateral adrenalectomy for pheochromocytoma in both adrenal glands, and he was diagnosed with VHL. Colon cancer metastasizing to a PNET is extremely unusual and has never been reported in the literature.
