Know Your Boundaries: The Necessity of Explicit Behavioral Cloning in Offline RL

"We introduce an offline reinforcement learning system that explicitly clones a behavior policy to reduce value learning. " One of the most effective ways to enforce such a restriction is to explicitly model a given data set-up using behavior cloning and explicitly encourage a policy not to choose unclear actions. We conclude that in this paper, it is not only feasible, but also beneficial to explicitly model the behavior policy for offline RL because the constraint can be implemented in a safe manner with the trained model. We first recommend a theoretical framework that allows us to incorporate behavior-cloned models into value-based offline RL strategies, enjoying the benefits of both explicit and value learning. With the new method, we show state-of-the-art results on several datasets within the D4RL and Robomimic benchmarks and achieve competitive results on all datasets tested. ".

In vivo cloning of artificial DNA nanostructures

"Today, amid the rapid evolution of DNA nanotechnology, a versatile method that recreates artificial DNA nanostructures with intricate secondary structures remains an appealing target. " According to previous success in reproducing DNA nanostructures enzymatically in vitro, a potential solution could be to cloning these nanostructures by using viruses. In the presence of helper phages, we describe a process where a single-stranded DNA nanostructure is embedded in a phagemid, converted into XL1-Blue cells, and amplified in vivo. To investigate the secondary structure of the attached junction in infected cells, UV-induced psoralen cross-linking is used.
