These results are correlated to elevated levels of BACE1 in NCAM2-deficient mice's brains, resulting in decreased removal of BACE1 from the cell surface. These results show that BACE1-generated BACE1 fragment of NCAM2 regulates BACE1 activity by promoting BACE1-targeting of BACE1 to Rab11-positive endosomes.
