We report the synthesis and optical characterization of fully inorganic gradient-shell CdSe/CdZnS nanocrystals with high luminescence quantum yield, which were obtained by changing native oleic-acid ligands with halide ions. The high PL quantum return of the halide-capped NCs allowed observation of single bit blinking and photon-antibunching; one unexpected result was that maturing processes that takes place during the first couple of days after deposition on glass seemed to offer a certain increased protection versus photobleaching. These outcomes recommend that halide-capped CdSe/CdZnS NCs are promising candidates for unification into opto-electronic tools, based on, as an example, hybrid perovskite matrices, which need getting rid of the steric obstacle and digital obstacle of bulky organic ligands to guarantee reliable combining.
