A Novel Joint Index Based on Peripheral Blood CD4+/CD8+ T Cell Ratio, Albumin Level, and Monocyte Count to Determine the Severity of Major Depressive Disorder

Abstract Background : Since the new depression assessment scales lack sensitivity and objectivity, a peripheral blood laboratory test can be a quick and reliable way to determine major depressive disorder severity. This research was designed to determine the relationship between laboratory parameters and disease severity. Using the Hamilton Depression Scale, MDD severity in the training and validation cohorts was determined. The index's discriminative results were determined in the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve. In the control group, the lower CD4+/CD8+ T cell ratio, albumin level, and a higher monocyte percentage were all significantly related to severe disease. Conclusion : We established and published a joint index for discriminating MDD severity in conjunction with disease severity-associated laboratory results that could be easily assessed.
