One of the most promising research areas in vitrating flow is flow instability, which involves complex gas-u2013liquid interactions and multiscale vortical structures. In the numerical investigation of unsteady flow characteristics, the role of turbulence modeling is vital. Our hybrid approach introduces a shielding function to link the RANS model with the LES, but only regionally, such as to large-scale separated flow regions. The SBES model's lift/drag coefficients, streamwise velocity profiles, and cavity profiles were more in tune with the experimental results than those obtained by the modified RANS model. The stretching and dilatation terms dominated the rise of vorticity around the hydrofoil, according to a further analysis of vorticity transportation. In conclusion, the SBES model can be used to predict turbulent flows in industrial engineering applications.
