Colletotrichum species causing anthracnose disease on avocado fruit in Taiwan

Colletotrichum spp. , Anthracnose disease. Colletotrichum spp. In Taiwan, Colletotrichum spp. The aim of this investigation was to identify the species responsible for avocado anthracnose in Taiwan and determine their pathogenicity. mature avocado fruits with brown lesions were collected from 13 orchards in Taiwan's avocado production areas from 2008 to 2010 and 2020, respectively, from 2008 to 2020. The lesions of avocado fruits were barred from the eighty-seven Colletotrichum isolates. According to the Apn2-Mat1-2 intergenic spacer and partial mating type gene sequence, eighty-six isolates were assigned to the Colletotrichum gloeosporioides species complex. The above four Colletotrichum species were pathogenic on these fruits, according to pathogenicity tests on wounded u2019Choquette>u2019 and u2018Zhongpu green peelu2019 avocado fruits. For the first time, an avocado fruit pathogen is identified as an avocado fruit pathogen. This is the first study in Taiwan investigating Colletotrichum species and their pathogenicity on avocado, and C. eriobotryae is identified as an avocado fruit pathogen.
