Purpose: Cartilage-bone combination is an essential functional end factor of cartilage repair therapy, however little is learnt about just how to promote combination. We checked the theory that chitosan-stabilized blood clot implant evokes osteoclasts to pierced cartilage problems and advertises repair and cartilage-bone integration. Style: Bilateral trochlear problems in 15 skeletally mature bunny knees were microdrilled and afterwards treated with chitosan-- glycerol phosphate/ blood implant with fluorescent chitosan tracer and thrombin to increase in situ solidification or with thrombin alone. Osteoclasts burst-accumulated at microdrill hole edges at 1 week, in new woven bone at the base of the drill holes at 2 weeks, and below endochondral cartilage repair at 8 weeks. Treated and control 8-week cartilage repair cells contained 85% collagen type II.
