Basal joint arthroplasty and carpal tunnel release comparing a single versus double incision: a prospective randomized study

We wanted to see if carpal tunnel release after basal joint arthroplasty is as safe as a two-incision technique in patients with concomitant carpal tunnel syndrome and basal thumb joint osteoarthritis. Patients in the double-incision group experiencing pillar pains were identical, progressive improvement in all symptom-, function-, and pain-related outcomes, with mean surgery time significantly shorter with the single-incision technique, and four versus zero patients in the double-incision group suffering pillar pain.

A prospective cohort study: platelet-rich plasma combined with carpal tunnel release treating carpal tunnel syndrome

Methods To see whether adjuvant PRP therapy could improve the prognosis using CTR, we included 82 patients in this study. To determine the patient's symptoms and function, a preoperative and postoperative visual analog scale, Boston carpal tunnel syndrome questionnaire-symptom severity scale, Boston carpal tunnel syndrome questionnaire-functional status scale, and grip strength were used to analyze the patient's signs and function. Results CTR combined with PRP therapy improved the VAS, BCTQ-SSS, and BCTQ-FSS in patients with moderate symptoms within one month after surgery. Considering the increased financial burden on patients, CTR combined with PRP should be suspicious in CTS therapy.
