Radiographic Identification of Cardiac Implantable Electronic Device Manufacturer: Smartphone Pacemaker-ID Application Versus X-ray Logo.

The cardiac implantable electronic device manufacturer's radiographic identification of the equivocable electronic device manufacturer enables the prompt interrogation of unknown CIED. A photograph of a chest X-ray was submitted to an artificial intelligence system that uses manufacturer characteristics for identification. We wanted to externally verify the accuracy of this smartphone application as a point-of-care diagnostic tool, compare on-axis to off-axis photo accuracy, and compare it to X-ray logo visualization for manufacturer identification. We reviewed surgical reports and chest X-rays in 156 pacemaker and 144 defibrillator patients in order to see X-ray logos and chest X-ray photographs to see the application's 3 common and 4 non-standard images. The accuracy of the Pacemaker-ID application is consistent with surveys from its designers and more advanced to X-ray logo visualization. With further AI education utilising new CIED schemes, the accuracy of the application as a POC tool can be enhanced and maintained.
