Electrical cardioversion of atrial arrhythmias with cardiac amyloidosis in the era of direct oral anticogulants

Aims Atrial fibrillation/atrial flutter is typical during cardiac amyloidosis. LAT among CA patients with AF/atrial flutter have a high incidence of LAT. We wanted to determine EC characteristics, LAT incidence, and risk factors, as well as AF/atrial flutter results in CA patients receiving EC, mainly using direct oral anticoagulants. Methods and findings The study included patients with CA and AF/atrial flutter for the first time in this series, as well as our national referral center for amyloidosis for EC from June 2017 to February 2021. In total, 66 patients with anticoagulation constituted DOAC in 74% of cases. Following a median follow-up of 30 months, a mean follow-up of 30 months was 51% in 64% of patients under amiodarone. Conclusions left atrial thrombus in 14% of CA patients enrolled in EC and mainly treated with DOAC, with mainly treated with DOAC.
