However, the role of stromal cells in the development of bone marrow-derived cells in oral squamous cell carcinoma invasion is uncertain. We isolated stromal cells from two OSCC patients: less invasive verrucous OSCC and highly invasive conventional OSCC, as well as highly invasive conventional OSCC and co-xenografted mice with the OSCC cell line on green fluorescent protein-positive bone marrow cells transplanted mice. By double fluorescent IHC, we traced the GFP-positive BM cells by immunohistochemistry and discovered matrix metalloproteinase 2 expression on BM cells.
